About the AFPA The Alberta Foster Parent Association provides support to foster families, advocates for the rights of children, educates the community about foster care, provides and arranges for training and social gatherings, and serves as a liaison between foster families and Alberta Children & Youth Services.
Adopting a Child On any given day there are two hundred children available for adoption in Alberta. The AFPA provides an online resource centre for pre and post adoption information.  The provision of post adoption supports is critical if we are to secure permanent, stable, loving families for the waiting children.
Help When You Need It The AFPA Support Line Team is designed to provide after-hours and week-end emergency support, and advice and referral for foster families and adoptive families. The program is delivered by volunteer foster parents who have experience in fostering, a good understanding of policy and procedures, and have taken conflict resolution training.
Our Programs The AFPA provides many support programs to foster parent families including: Foster Allegation Support Team, Legal Assistance Program, Citation Awards Program, Annual Training Conference, and numerous discounts from Fields, the Brick Warehouse, Avis Car Rental, Hughes Petroleum, and more.
