Insurance Program for Foster Parents
In order to access the AFPA insurance program foster parents must have proof that what they are claiming is covered under their homeowners or tenants program. They must also have written documentation that their insurance carrier has refused to cover the damage.
What a foster parent do in the Event of a Loss:
- Contact your own insurance company to make a claim.
- If your claim is denied, you should ask for a letter stating why it was denied.

- Ask for your control adjuster, Mr. Harvey Heinz. If Mr. Heinz is not available, advise the operator that you are reporting a new claim under the Alberta Foster Parent Association.
You will need to provide the following information:
- Name(s) of Foster Parents, address and phone numbers
- Name(s) of Foster Children
- Date and time of occurrence
- Location of loss/claim
- Cause of loss
- Details of loss/claim
- Phone numbers where you can be contacted and best time to call
Emergency After Hours Claims 24 Hours a Day/365 Days a Year
- Phone 780 484-0364 or 1 800 565-3128 and you will be connected to our Emergency Claims Service or call the Emergency Claims Centre direct at 1-888-235-2447
- Advise you are reporting a new claim under the Alberta Foster Parent Association and need to talk to the control adjuster, Mr. Harvey Heinz. If Mr. Heinz is not available request to speak to the on call adjuster for your location.
